We’re back with another BLT Rocket, and this week we’re featuring good ol’ Saskatchewan girl, Tanis Herzog (@tanisherzog).

Tanis was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and moved to Camrose, Alberta when she was 9. Her mom was born and raised in Calgary, so naturally Tanis grew up as a Flames fan too. “Camrose is only an hour away from Edmonton so there’s not many other Flames fans around here and I get chirped about it a lot.”

She also found the ice at a young age too. “I started playing hockey when I was 4 years old and have been playing ever since, and don’t plan on stopping until I can’t walk anymore. I played boys hockey until I was 10 years old then switched over to female hockey when I moved to Camrose.”

Tanis played Junior A last season for the Central Alberta Amazons based out of Red Deer, Alberta. She tells us her favourite part about hockey is “all the memories and friends you make, the competitiveness of it, the teamwork, team bonding, the hockey community and the rush of it all.”

She plans on coaching next year and says she can’t wait to have kids of her own so that she can coach them and watch them play growing up. “Hopefully they love the sport as much as I do and create just as many amazing memories I did growing up fortunate enough to play… Hockey is my biggest passion and favourite sport in the world. It has not only given me some of the best memories of my life but also many life long friends.”
