On Wednesday afternoon the Edmonton Oilers completed a trade sending winger Taylor Hall to the New Jersey Devils for defenceman Adam Larsson. Needless to say – Oilers fans were not happy. It turns out that GM Peter Chiarelli  thought he was acquiring up and coming all-star defenceman Oliver Ekman-Larsson from the Arizona Coyotes.

“We are currently in the process of trying to rescind the trade through the NHL Trade Appeal process” said Chiarelli. “It is really just a classic bait and switch maneuver by the Devils and we are not happy with the way things have been handled on their part.”

According to Chiarelli, the GM of the Devils, Ray Shero, was referring to the defenceman exclusively as “Larsson” when talking about him, and this was very confusing.

“(Ekman) Larsson is a player that we have wanted for quite some time and have had our eye on since last season. When Ray offered Larrson for Hall, we didn’t even hesitate to pull the trigger, it was a no brainer. I guess we just forgot that the guy we wanted plays for Arizona and not New Jersey.”

Chiarelli held a press conference on Wednesday afternoon to apologize to Oiler fans and assured everyone that “he would get this figured out as soon as possible,” and that “Ray Shero is a meanie”.
