It’s a nod to Mike Vernon, who defended the crease back when the Flames actually wore those jerseys, the man who led them to their one and only Stanley Cup.
It also features Mike Smith’s actual ears (painted on, obviously), which is just like the bucket that Jacob Markstrom wears in Vancouver.
